Here's
how we got started:
- A small group of women sent letters to community leaders,
friends, neighbors, colleagues and associates with the date,
time and purpose of the initial meeting.
- A founders' group - steering committee - emerged.
- We developed a mission statement.
- We set a structure: Founder's meetings to set a calendar
of events, to develop policy (open to any interested women);
large forums and meetings on a specific topic - (open to
anyone); book clubs; letter writing campaigns.
- Large meetings were scheduled and include author's nights
and talks by political leaders and economists. We provide
a social hour for networking. Other invited organizations
co-sponsor the meetings.
- Our political book club solidifies the group.
- Word of our events is disseminated through press releases,
and mailings/e-mails to our ever growing mailing list, leafleting
and the website.
For more organizational and promotional "documents" that
we developed, see Our Chapter
Model.
When you plan to get together, let
us know. Perhaps there is something we can to help you
get started!
